Introduction to HTML
Understanding HTML is the key to building successful web-sites. Even if you learn to use programs such as Dreamweaver or Expression Web 2, you still need to understand the underlying HTML code. The course covers an introduction to the HTML structure and goes in depth in to the main tags and their attributes. This course is a pre-requisite for Cascading Style Sheet Principles.
Cascading Style Sheet Principles I
Setting up web-sites using Cascading Style Sheets is the modern method of web development. CSS enables sites to load quicker, easier to modify site wide styles and produce web-sites with richer graphics and more modern layouts. The course covers the basics of CSS, defining styles and selectors and properties. We also cover the CSS Box Model and the use of positioning, relative, floating and absolute and how to use them effectively. This course is a pre-requisite for Cascading Style Sheet Principles II.
Cascading Style Sheet Principles II
Further on from the Cascading Style Sheets I course, we venture in to using CSS to build a web-site with rollover buttons, placement of images and text in to a layout. We cover the basics on some of the CSS bugs and introduce some of the basic hacks and filters needed to successfully implement a CSS based web-site.
Search Engine Optimisation Principles
The focus of building a web-site is not just in the design and creation of the site, it is in the tuning of the site for being found on the internet. This course covers the basics of search engine friendly designs and includes background on what the key tags to edit for a site, what to include and not to include and how to tune keywords to achieve the best results. We also cover how to list your site on Google effectively and how to generate a Sitemap and analyse the reports available under the Google Webmaster Dashboard.
